My Phone is Smarter than I am - Shaker Recruitment Advertising ...

I didn?t see this one coming.? At least not in the way it will impact your process.? We used mobile with a text messaging campaign a number of years ago and it really enhanced the job fair we were promoting.? I thought that was terrific - text messaging ? and once I learned what LOL and OMG meant, I could finally understand my college age children.

So I quickly became Mr. Technology until one day I was at a conference and Greta Sherman notices me checking my phone ? and announces ?Jerry Has a flip phone!??? I stubbornly held on to my flip phone for a year (I did have a company Blackberry for email but being the first one off the assembly line it no longer was functioning) until I discovered the smart phone.

Look out world ? Jerry has a Smart Phone! Actually it?s smarter than I am and corrects my spelling nicely. It also means that every administrator?s fear came to pass ? RN?s and other healthcare professionals could be online IN THE HOSPITAL.??? They could do personal things like checking email or even, that?s right, search for jobs online.? (Did you know one in six job searches start from cell phones?) The folks that look into the future are telling us that 60% of applications will one day come from smart phones.???

?It also means to stay on top of things - your career site needs to be mobile ready.? You need to play to the crowd.? Job seekers between the ages of 18 and 35 likely make up much of your target market.? Have you seen the number of people who seem glued to their phone, checking mail, IMing, checking Facebook and Tweeting everything they do (note to the friend who tweeted from the grocery store ? I don?t need to know what you are picking up for a barbecue I haven?t been invited to attend).

?Like it or not, mobile will have an impact on your recruiting. If not already, in the near future mobile should become part of your recruitment strategy.
